I miss this. I miss the fun and shenanigans that 'we' got up to in Deviants.
However, it's not the same now.
Most of my 'generation' of forum regulars are gone these days and so; the current forum whores are quite alien to me. Because of this, I don't fit in. I am now apart from the madding crowd, and I don't have the effort/time to return to it.
However, the one thing that remains common with most of the users on DeviantART is that: this website has changed us.
I think this goes for everyone on here. DeviantART makes us grow. It nurtures us. It teaches us. It matures us.
For some people, it gives us social skills that we can use in 'real life.' But just because the outside world is coined 'real,' doesn't mean that the relationships and memories we have shared on this website aren't.
The people we have met and the friendships that we've obtained will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
No matter how infected deviantART is with yaoi, 'artistic' nudes, gore, menstrual paintings, trolls, COMPLAINTOPIANS, and llamas, deviantART has taught us! educated us!
It would be hard to leave deviantART as a worse person. Sure, for some of us "youngin's" we lose much of our innocence and purity from this website, but by the time we move on from here, we're much more knowledgable of the world around us. We're not so ignorant, not so illiterate and not so stupid. In the rare instances, we actually gain artistic abilities from this website!
DeviantART will forever hold a dear place in my heart. As sappy as this sounds, it is true. Thanks to you guys, I've overcome many of my dilemmas of teenhood. I've had people to confide in, people to troll, people to criticise me, people to shape me, people to spend hours and even days talking to; sharing laughs, music, art and culture. I've even dreamt about this stupid place and used it as a brilliant escape from our world which is far too devoid of the greenery and goodness that abides within this 16 letter url.
Thank you dA.
